Cuckoo Search and Firefly Algorithms- Biologically Inspired Algorithms- Crimson Publishers

Cuckoo Search and Firefly Algorithms- Biologically Inspired Algorithms by SM Kamalapur in Open Access Biostatistics & Bioinformatic: Crimson Publishers- Bioinformatics Open Access Journals

Optimization is an important subject with a wide range of applications. Biologically inspired algorithms are becoming powerful to solve optimization problem. This paper intends to provide brief overview of two biologically inspired algorithms namely cuckoo search and firefly algorithms. Application areas of these algorithms are listed in the paper.

Writing Research Paper: Challenges and Solutions- Crimson Publishers

Writing Research Paper: Challenges and Solutions by Kshitij Shinghal in Open Access Biostatistics & Bioinformatics: Crimson Publishers- Bioinformatics Open Access Journals

Dear colleagues, being the part of the editorial team of this reputed journal, I feel very privileged and delighted to get an opportunity to write an editorial opinion article for the journal. I would like to thank all the contributors i.e. authors, reviewer's, editors etc. of the journal on behalf of editorial team of the Crimson Publishers, Open Access Journal of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics. In my academic journey, I have experienced that more than once students are found to confront a perplexing situation: why to write or publish an academic research paper. Further, even if due to some compelling factors (like obligation to faculty in-charge, supervisor etc.) if forced to write thesis/reports, they again come across a challenging situation, why at all to publish the research paper? A fear of rejection is always there in their minds, "If I ever submitted a paper it will be rejected". Believe in yourself, you can do it too, go out submit a paper, take the reviews positively, modify and resubmit and you’ve done it.

The Economic Basis of Stupidity- Crimson Publishers

The Economic Basis of Stupidity by James F Welles in Open Access Biostatistics & Bioinformatics: Crimson Publishers- Open Access Biostatistics & Bioinformatics journals

One of the basic problems with which all leaders must contend is that the ideals and ideas they are expected to use to solve existing problems are often simply common assumptions. This is particularly true in the field of economics-a domain in which beliefs and arguments over them have in the past century clearly become religious in nature. The general field of economics relates to the system of allocating productive goods and the land, tools and labour employed to produce them. The need for systems is a cultural universal [1], but one might legitimately inquire as to just how systematic the systems are. Capitalism really is not a system: it is economic anarchy. Socialism is too systematic: it stifles initiative with plans for state traction. Communism 1 is economic democracy- collective stupidity, with each detracting according to his means and by 1842 using a universal language based on "Hunger", "Envy" and "Death" [2]. Fascism is economic over think.

Design of a Novel Stepped Biconical Antenna- Crimson Publishers

Design of a Novel Stepped Biconical Antenna by Yashu Sindhwani in Open Access Biostatistics & Bioinformatics: Crimson Publishers- Open Access Biostatistics & Bioinformatics journals

Cone-shaped antenna's area unit is helpful for several applications as a result of their broadband characteristics and relative simplicity. This instance includes associate in nursing analysis of the antenna electric resistance and also the graphical record as functions of the frequency for a biconical antenna with a finite ground plane and a fifty fi  concentrical feed [1]. The motionsymmetry makes it doable to model this in axially interchangeable 2nd. Once modelling in 2nd, you'll be able to use a dense mesh, giving a superb accuracy for a good vary of frequencies.

Formulation & Evaluation of Sustained Release Matrix Tablet of Repaglinide- crimson publishers open access journal- Crimson Publishers

Formulation & Evaluation of Sustained Release Matrix Tablet of Repaglinide by Gaurav Agarwal in Open Access Biostatistics& Bioinformatics

The aim of present is to develop & evaluate Sustained release matrix tablet of Repaglinide. Repaglinide is an effective antihyperglycemic. But owing to its shorter half life it needs frequent administration. In present study, an attempt has been made to develop Sustained release matrix tablet of Repaglinide thereby reducing its frequency of administration & other dose related side effects. Various grades of HPMC (K4M, 100M & 15M) were used as hydrophilic matrix polymer. Croscarmellose was used as swelling agent. Total 9 formulations were prepared in trial batches. The formulation was evaluated for various pre compression & post compression parameters. All the formulations showed compliance with the pharmacopoeial standards. On the basis of evaluated parameters formulation F9 was considered to be the best one. Formulation F9 containing polymer HPMC showed 99.15% in- vitro drug release profile. The release data for formulation F9 was fitted to various mathematical models like zero order, first order, Krosmeyer Peppas & Higuchi model. It was observed that drug follows zero order & Higuchi model.

Radial Basis Function Network versus Regression Model in Manufacturing Processes Prediction-Open Access Biostatistics & Bioinformatics journals- Crimson Publishers

Radial Basis Function Network versus Regression Model in Manufacturing Processes Prediction by Homero De Jesus De Leon Delgado* in Open Access Biostatistics& Bioinformatics

One of the objectives of manufacturing industry, is to increase the efficiency in their processes using different methodologies, such as statistical modeling, for production control and decision-making. However, the classical tools sometimes have difficulty to depict the manufacturing processes. This paper is a comparative study between a multiple regression model and a Radial Basis Function Neural Network in terms of the statistical metrics R2 and R2 adj applied in a permanent mold casting process and TIG welding process. Results showed that in both cases, the RBF network performed better than Regression model.

Modelling Length of Hospital Stay for Tuberculosis Treated in-Patients at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital: a Competing Risk Perspective_Crimson Publishers

Modelling Length of Hospital Stay for Tuberculosis Treated in-Patients at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital: a Competing Risk Perspective by Halima S Twabi in Open Access Biostatistics & Bioinformatics

A retrospective cohort study was done on adult Tuberculosis (TB) in-patients from Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) Surveillance Programme of In-patients and Epidemiology (SPINE) database to identify factors explaining time to discharge from hospital while accounting for a competing event: death. The study aimed to apply and compare competing risk models on TB data. Semi-parametric Cause-specific hazards (CSH) and Sub-distribution hazard (SDH) models were applied to model the effect of HIV status, age, and Sex in relation to death or discharge from hospital. Test for model assumptions and diagnostics were conducted. Findings showed that the SDH explained best the effect of the covariates to the probability of a patient being discharged or dying.
