The engineering sector in any nation has a prior role to play in the attainment of nations’ goals and objectives. These objectives and goals ranges from economic, social and political domain. This makes it quite relevant because it also cut across all domain of human endeavour. Hence engineering companies plays similar roles. In recent time in the developing countries of the world such as Nigeria, the objective and goals has not been achieved due to bed eviling problems facing local engineering companies. It is in consonance with this fact that, this paper intends to investigate problems facing local engineering companies-low patronage and untimely payment of benefits, high tax burden, lack adequate equipments/machines, environmental and cultural induced challenges, political factor, and lack of competencies in service delivery and way-forward-collaboration with in the union, review of state of industry, awareness programmes, review of contractual framework. It was concluded that if the possible way-forward as enunciated by the researcher is implemented the problems facing local engineering companies will be surmounted.

Based on the Kumaraswamy distribution, we study the so called Kumaraswamy Extension Exponential Distribution (KEE). The new distribution has a number of well-known lifetime special sub-models such as a new exponential type distribution, extension exponential distribution Kumaraswamy generalized exponential distribution, among several others. We derive some mathematical properties of the (KEE) including quan tile function, moments, moment generating function and mean residual lifetime. In addition, the method of maximum likelihood and least squares and weighted least squares estimators are discussing for estimating the model parameters. By using the likelihood method a simulation study was made.

An unprecedented revolution has been observed in science with recent technological advances, which have provided a large amount of “omic” data. The crescent generation and availability of this information available in public databases were, and still are, a challenge for professionals from different areas. However, what is the challenge? In biology, the main challenge is to make sense of the enormous amount of structural data and sequences that have been generated at multiple levels of biological systems. Still, in bioinformatics, development of tools is necessary (statistical and computational) capable of assisting in understanding the mechanisms underlying biological questions in the study. Besides, if we consider the complexity of science, this is a highly reductionist view. The era of a “new biology” emerges accompanied by the birth/development of other sciences, such as bioinformatics and computational biology, which have an integrated interface of molecular biology.

This study investigated the influence of students’ home activities on their academic performance in Economics in senior secondary school II in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State. Three research questions were answered in the study and three null hypotheses were tested at .05 level of significance. The population of the study consisted of 1,130 senior secondary school II in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State. A sample size of 113 students was adopted; this was 10 percent of the entire population. A 21 structured questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the respondents (students). The questionnaire was face-validated by experts in Faculty of Education, University of Uyo. Cronbach’s Alpha Technique was used in determining the reliability of the instrument and a correlation coefficient of 0.76 was obtained.

In this paper, we present the application of an RGB-D camera in developing a travel aid for the blind or visually impaired people. The goal of the proposed travel aid is to provide the user with information about obstacles along the travelled path so he or she may walk safely and quickly in an unfamiliar environment. The performance of the travel aid greatly depends on whether the ground plane can be successfully detected. In this paper, we present a new approach to detecting the ground plane from a depth image. Two different experiments were designed to test the performance of the proposed travel aid.

Escherichia coli genome-scale metabolic models (GEMs) have been published with ability to predict metabolic engineering capabilities that could be consistent with experimental measurements. However, the GEMs have limited scope, and the models are of two types, metabolism models (M-model), and metabolism and gene expression (ME-model) that could guide the constructions of proof-of-principle strains of particularly E. coli bacterium that may find applications in metabolic engineering strategies, synthetic biology [1], and beyond. GEMs have been clearly established to be capable of predicting metabolic engineering capabilities and could sometime lead to biological discoveries for missing reactions and/or missing gene functions [2-4]. In addition, systems metabolic engineering has proof useful with the use of GEMs where time consuming experimental trial and error was shortened by predicting engineering strategies using GEMs. Although sometimes prediction could fail to agree with experimental data, but in that circumstances missing knowledge can be uncovered and gaps in the reconstruction can therefore be bridged leading to novel biological discoveries [3,4].

The clean environment and healthy food supply to people all over the world is one of the most critical challenges for all mankind. Background: Identifying an author’s research domain (RD) using MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) terms is essential for a journal’s development and its readership, but no journal uses mining online methods or social network analysis (SNA) to extract journal publication information to report an author’s contributions.

Objective: To select prestigious authors and papers that have contributed most to a journal, we retrospectively (1) calculated an SCI (Science Citation Index) journal’s most recent impact factors (IF) and (2) used graphical representations that include MeSH terms of RDs for authors and journals.

Methods: We collected 2,053 papers published between July 1, 1999, and April 3, 2017, in the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR) and cited by 673 journals, for which we also collected annual IFs for 394 SCI journals, including the JMIR. The prestigious authors and JMIR papers based on the weight of the 5-year SCI IFs from 394 cited-by papers in 2015. The JMIR core aims and scope are presented using major MeSH terms based on their corresponding average weighted scores. Social network analysis was used to create a graphical RD pattern for JMIR, and its prestigious papers and authors.

In my academic journey, I have experienced that more than once students are found to confront a perplexing situation: why to write or publish an academic research paper. Further, even if due to some compelling factors (like obligation to faculty in-charge, supervisor etc.) if forced to write thesis/reports, they again come across a challenging situation, why at all to publish the research paper? A fear of rejection is always there in their minds, "If I ever submitted a paper it will be rejected". One of the basic problems with which all leaders must contend is that the ideals and ideas they are expected to use to solve existing problems are often simply common assumptions. This is particularly true in the field of economics-a domain in which beliefs and arguments over them have in the past century clearly become religious in nature. The general field of economics relates to the system of allocating productive goods and the land, tools and labour employed to produce them. The need for systems is a cultural universal [1], but one might legitimately inquire as to just how systematic the systems are. Capitalism really is not a system: it is economic anarchy. Socialism is too systematic: it stifles initiative with plans for state traction. Communism 1 is economic democracy- collective stupidity, with each detracting according to his means and by 1842 using a universal language based on "Hunger", "Envy" and "Death" [2]. Fascism is economic over think.

Formulation & Evaluation of Sustained Release Matrix Tablet of Repaglinide by Gaurav Agarwal in Open Access Biostatistics& Bioinformatics

The aim of present is to develop & evaluate Sustained release matrix tablet of Repaglinide. Repaglinide is an effective antihyperglycemic. But owing to its shorter half life it needs frequent administration. In present study, an attempt has been made to develop Sustained release matrix tablet of Repaglinide thereby reducing its frequency of administration & other dose related side effects. Various grades of HPMC (K4M, 100M & 15M) were used as hydrophilic matrix polymer. Croscarmellose was used as swelling agent. Total 9 formulations were prepared in trial batches. The formulation was evaluated for various pre compression & post compression parameters. All the formulations showed compliance with the pharmacopoeial standards. On the basis of evaluated parameters formulation F9 was considered to be the best one. Formulation F9 containing polymer HPMC showed 99.15% in- vitro drug release profile. The release data for formulation F9 was fitted to various mathematical models like zero order, first order, Krosmeyer Peppas & Higuchi model. It was observed that drug follows zero order & Higuchi model.
